GSOP Event 17 (Main Event)

There it is. My first Major win!

Two days after it still feels some kind of unreal. Although I play the Mid-High Stakes MTTs for about 4 months now, it was my biggest online tournament considering the Buy In so far.

I have improved my game significantly over the last 6 months and its not only luck that I have this awesome run since May.

But in the end you always the need the luck and yes, in this tourney I had it! 

I will post a review of the tourney here which changed my poker life a bit :-)

The tourney started really normal. Starting stack was 10.000 and I was down to about 8k when I won my first all in preflop with AQs against a 18bb repush with 67s.

Then carddead again until the first hand I got lucky. MP opens, I reshove AJo for 13bb and get called by the BTN with AQ. J comes. Up to 20k.

Then I went down to 16k because I lost AK in a 3bet pot against a LAG (Loose Aggressive). 

Now I had 20bb left and was in the BB with KQs. UTG+2 opens and BTN calls. I reshove and get called by AK. My FD appears on the flop and I hit again on the river. Weeee! Up to 32k

Now I won 2 pots with cbets and went up to 45k. After this I open with JJ form the CO and BTN pushes for 18bb. He holds KQo and I hit my J insta on the flop. Up to 63k

After this I defend my BB with AJo and call 2 streets on an Ace high Flop and win the pot. 80k.(BB 1,6k)

Winning 2 repushed against the LAG I went up to 110k. This is the point where I hang for a long time. 

Up to 120k, down to 80k and back again like 4 times. 

Now the BB is already 8k and I have 100k left in the BB. MP pushed with 91k and I have an easy call. He has TT and I hit on the flop.

Up to 206k. Now I made a really close play. Im in the BB with 190k and the SB with 104k minraises to 16k. Because he raise/folded in 2 spots before with a little bit more chips I thought I have enough FE here. and 87s is a great hand if he calls me. So its really close if I have enough FE here, against any other player it would have been an easy fold of course. He snapped with AQo and I hit..

Up to 309k Chips. BB 10k. After I won a pot on the turn with KQo, I opened AQ UTG+1. MP pushs with 12bb. I have to snap. He shows JJ and again I hit!

546k Chips. Already 3 hands later the next big hand. UTG opens, CO pushes his 16bb and I have JJ in the SB. Standard Spot. I go in, UTG folds and CO shows 99 and I hold. Chipleader now!

Now some resteals and small pots. I have 950k. Probably the most interesting hand here.

BTN minraises and I 3bet from the BB with 88. SB 4bets and I 5bet. He calls. Pot already 571k.

I have 700k behind and Villian 1,3kk.

Board of TKK. I bet 180k, he calls. Normally the hand is now lost and finished for me, but the dealer really liked me...

8 on the Turn. 4th nuts. I check, he pushes all in. I call, he shows QJs. Nh. 2kk Chips and CL.

From now on I can abuse the table seen on the fact that soon there will be the FT bubble and the big money.

I win a hand with turned straight against 2pair. KQ vs ATo. Running hot. Up to 2,6kk.

I eliminate another shortie with TT > T9s and we are at the final table. I have 35% of all chips (3,5kk) that are in play. Avg is 1kk.

I can make good pressure on the table and go up to 4kk. 

Then my first hand I lost for a long time. We are 6 left, HJ opens and I 3bet. Get the min 4bet from the BB and call with JTs. Flop comes A65 with FD for me. I go all in and he snaps his AK. He will fold any Pocket here and only call his A. I have FE and the FD. FD doesnt come and I´m down to 2kk.

I can win a flip with AQ against JJ and I´m back to 3,5kk. 5 left. The others bust each other and we are 3 handed all even stacked. 

Then I cant win a hand for the next 100 hands and I´m down to 1,5k. CL 7,5kk. 

I can make it back to 3,5kk and the CL busts the other. We are HU. Im behind 3k to 8k. 

I can win QQ vs ATo as he ships on my 4bet. Now Im in front with 8k. He makes it back to 6k/4k as the follwing had decides the tourney:

I open JTo, he calls. Flop JT4 rainbow. He donks, I minraise. He calls. Turn another 4. I bet 540k, he pushes all in, I snap. He shows KQo. OESD.

River 3. I hold. I WON!!!!

This awkward moment when you see his QK and the 3 on the river. AWESOME!!

Beside this I won a 5k tournament ticket for next sunday with another 500k gtd. Let´s win it again :-)

New Milestone

Hey guys,

it´s been a while since I updated this blog here. I am still having semester holidays (2 weeks left) and was grinding not too bad.



The "new milestone" i am talking about is that yesterday it was the first time I played all majors on all sites!
This is really a big step for an MTT player and I hope I can hold this up forever!

Why I achieved this? Read below!




The luck was also on my side in the important spots. This is the reason why I could finish September 2012 with a profit of 28k$. My best month ever so far.

Although I only got 15k$ for myself and the rest went into my longterm staking its awful.

Beside this, 180s are running not this good. Had the biggest down since I play them, but it is ok and this had to happen some time. 300 BI are the top I hope and now it will go on up again!

Live Poker related I played some small tourneys (<200€) in the Kings Casino but wasn´t running hot. Every tourney I finished pushing in AA or loosing with AA :P

Becasue I only can do this in the semester holidays and if someone joins me, I nearly take every opportunity to do it.

Furthermore I play 2 "big" Live Events the next 2 weeks. One is the Concord Million in Austria and (if I bust there before the finals) I play the GCOP in the Kings Casino.

Hope I dont brick both tournaments!

After this, holidays are over and university stars again. Looking forward to it, seen on the 3 months at home. Awaking at 11am or later everys is not that bad (:P) but you need some real work in your life.

The positive site of variance

I wanted to write this blog post several days/weeks ago, but every time there was a new MTT ship.

I have the best run in my poker career ever. Last 4 months I shipped at least 1 MTT every month. Just insane.

180s are running awful, too.

And this although I have a low volume atm seen on summer, work and real life.

Next week I´ll play a little 144€ tourney in a casino with a few friends. Playing life is really nice.

Of course you dont have the hourly as you have online, but its not all about $.

Oh well, I´m riding.

Third great cash in 3 months. And finally a "Hot" in which I had several Top50 finishes already.

The luck was on my side in this tourney, won all 60/40 decisions and my KK hand F2T.

But the most important hand was on the Final Table, where I made a very close call with 99.

At the moment I think this wasn´t a good call seen on several facts about the other 2. Think I should fold 99 and call TT+.

But well, such spots are always so close and sometimes you need the luck on your side.!

So the 9 came and all was good although I was first like "NOOOOOOO" when I saw his Jacks.

Holidays

Exams for this semester are over including 3 weeks of learning >5h. This was really tough combined with the fact that the last 4 exams were placed in just one week! (Th, Fr, Mo, Tu)

I´ve already been passed 3/6 and perhaps I will pass them all with the first try? Would be awesome.

But anyway, the semester is over and I have "Holidays" until the mid of October. Weeeeeeeeeee.

This means al lot time for grinding, hanging out with friends and just doing what you want to do!

Maybe even the sun will return some day in this summer and I can spend some time in the sun seen on the fact that I couldn´t go into real holidays with my friends because of the exams. Meeehh.


In these three months I want play a few live tourneys, hopefully with some poker friends.
The "Concord Million" in Austria which I played in April/May will return in October and I´m really looking forward!

After having a 3k+ downswing the last days which nearly ruined my month I was able to cash "good" yesterday. Seen on the 10th, 11th etc places in the MTTs this month this "win" was defitinely deserved.

Could complain a litte bit about the HU which cost me 2,4k$. Had the lead with 10mio against 2 mio chips and lost it.
